Wildflower Blooms at The Santa Rosa Plateau
I spent Sunday morning at the Santa Rosa Plateau in quest for some good wildflower shots. There were none. There were almost no wildflowers. There were plenty of snakes.
That’s why I love the Santa Rosa Plateau in the spring. If you can’t find flowers, you can find snakes. And if that doesn’t work, the vernal pools always give you something to shoot.
Here are some of the shots I took.
- Poppies and Oaks
- Vernal Pool Grasses
- Santa Rosa Plateau Vernal Pool
- SRP Garter Snake 5
- SRP Garter Snake 4
- SRP Garter Snake 3
- SRP Garter Snake 2
- SRP Garter Snake 1
- Lupines and Mt. San Jacinto
- Poppies and Fallen Oaks

I really like “Lupines and Mt. San Jacinto” and “Poppies and Oaks” and I also like “Poppies and Fallen Oaks.” While the garter snake photos show that you saw a snake, there isn’t much of an impact without a close up. I would have thought that I would like the graceful lines of the snake contrasting with the reeds but something is missing.
Thanks. The snake was just to show snakes. They weren’t supposed to be artistic.
